Greentalk and Earth Day 2022

Earth Day 2022 - Invest In Our Planet

Today, April 22nd 2022, is Earth Day, and activities are planned all over the world from litter picking, to environmental awareness building and tree planting.

Greentalk is a great platform for people to show their support for Earth Day 2022 and Earth Days in years to come. It offers a brilliant way to invest in our planet, by providing opportunities for people to learn about their environment and to take action to improve it.

Our new Adoption and Notification features help people really make a difference in their neighbourhoods. Head over to Hounslow Greentalk to find out how it works.

Hounslow Greentalk

In Hounslow, an area of west London, there are more than 123,000 trees in parks, open spaces, streets and estates. You can find 383 different species of tree in Hounslow – everything from Birch, and Beech to Cedar and Oak.

And while the Council and its partners care for all trees in the borough, residents can also do their bit to protect and expand the tree canopy.

The challenge is to improve the survival rates of newly-planted trees. A few simple actions from residents who adopt trees, such as watering them during hot, dry and windy spells can make a big difference.

Hounslow Greentalk is the borough’s one-stop-shop for everything tree-related. You can find out more about the different types of trees in the borough, plan a walk through the trees and find out what’s going on in the borough’s green scene.

To adopt a tree, sign up to Hounslow Greentalk by creating an account – it takes just two minutes. Then visit the interactive map to find an adoptable tree near you – there are hundreds to choose from. Each tree comes with an adoption guide, providing tips on watering and caring for it.
