The winter months are generally associated with dark and dreary days, but for local Councils and boroughs, this is a key opportunity to engage with local residents and communities.
Greentalk has recently developed new tools to do just that. Following on from National Tree Week at the end of November, we developed a tree ordering system for local residents. As part of Hounslow Council’s Resident Tree Planting scheme, Greentalk’s ordering system allowed more than 500 free trees to be ordered by their residents for planting in their own gardens.
The scheme, which encompassed 3 collection locations and covered a 3 month period, proved hugely popular with most trees snapped up within a matter of days after launch.
Christmas Trees
To help support this season’s tree planting initiatives, Hounslow Council has planted a series of young, living Christmas Trees. Twenty Fraser Firs and Serbian Spruces have been planted in prominent locations throughout the borough in the lead-up to the festive season.
Utilising new Greentalk features of curated routes and collections, Hounslow Greentalk has helped focus attention on this special collection of trees by curating three Christmas tree routes, providing a way for residents to go and visit all 20 trees (one for each ward) during the holiday season. In addition, all the trees can be easily found by their star icons on our map, and more information about each individual tree can be accessed by clicking on it.
